notice some thematic similarities? the references to the inevitablity of death, aging and seduction?! its all there, right in front of us, how did we never see this before?!

Poetry is great, you uncultured rugby player! Specially the romantics, as opposed to man hating feminist Gwen Harwood. Not that anyone was talking bout either of those, but I felt like mentioning it. Stupid wench.

metaphysical poets are great! the romantics are great! culture is great! and ill hack to peices with a spoon all those who say otherwise!

There often exists parallels between works of poetry published within differing time persiods. "Lay Lady Lay" by Bob Dylan and "To his Coy Mistress" are two such examples. Both display similar use of poetic techniques such as assonance, imagery and alliteration, and both deal with the same themes and... Oh gawd, I need to spend less time at school... I'm even commenting in essays!! (Albeit not especially good ones)
Bob Dylan actually stands in democratic terms as a higher regarded poet than the metaphysicists. In my eyes certainly.
